Paris (AFP) – French cosmetics brand L’Ocean, founded in the 19th century, is being sold to L’Hôtel de Paris, French daily Le Figaro reported.
The news comes after L’ORÉAL Paris, founded by Louis Vuitton, had been sold to US cosmetics company L’Occitane.
L’OREOAL Paris was founded in Paris in 1872 by Marie-Antoinette de Rothschild, and has since grown to become one of the world’s largest cosmetics companies.
It is based in a 15-hectare (38,500-acre) complex in the north of Paris, which was designed by architect Jean Nouvel and is now the headquarters of the company.
In 2011, LELOAL Paris sold to American cosmetics giant L’Ansart for a reported $9.5bn (5bn euros).
